You will own the AWS environment for a large commerce replatforming program: deployments, monitoring, incident response, CI/CD, and keeping the existing microservices estate healthy while the migration reshapes what runs on it. Your job is to make deployments uneventful and keep production quiet through the entire transition. This is a long-term, full-time engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Deploy, monitor and support Python services running in AWS; own alerting and incident response for production integrations
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Docker-based deployment, and infrastructure automation
Maintain and enhance the existing microservices estate and its integrations
Troubleshoot production integrations and data flows using logs, metrics and traces
Drive observability: structured logging, metrics, alerting and dashboards across services
Engineer zero-downtime, rollback-ready deployments for the migration cutover
Help build the reusable integration framework the team standardizes on
Requirements:
5+ years of backend engineering with deep AWS experience (ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, CloudWatch or equivalents)
Strong Python in production
Docker and containerized application delivery
CI/CD ownership: you have built pipelines, not just used them
Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK or CloudFormation) used in production
Production operations experience: on-call, incident response, postmortems
Fluent English
Minimum 4 hours daily overlap with US Eastern time, full-time availability
Nice to Have:
Event-driven architecture at scale: durable queues, dead-letter handling, safe replay
Cost optimization of AWS workloads
Shopify, POS or OMS platform exposure
BigQuery or data pipeline tooling
